Description
East Whiteland Township hired ARRO to conduct planning, bidding, and construction services for their “Valley Creek Park Improvements” Project, completed in 2016. The project included improvements to the park’s pavilion area and playground; increasing the park’s usability and recreational features.
ARRO assisted with the public bidding portion of the project in regards to the demolition of the existing pavilion, construction of the improved concrete pad, furnishing and installation of the pavilion, grading and seeding of the playground area, and installation of the playground.
ARRO also completed design for the new concrete pad and pavilion covering; the existing bituminous walk surrounding the pavilion was replaced along with the pavilion covering. ADA compliant features were purchased and installed to furnish the pavilion; including several benches and a grill.
Working with General Recreation, Inc., a local playground equipment supplier, ARRO assisted the township in planning, design, and ordering equipment for Valley Creek’s new playground. The design included a swing frame, belt and bucket swings, a flywheel spinner, a 6 paneled cascade climbing frame, a PlaySense Design 600 play frame, and a Smart Play Motion 2-5 DB frame. The township removed existing playground equipment before the grading and seeding of the playground area, and the new play features were installed.
Today, Valley Creek Park reaches across 35 acres of woodland, open space, and trails. It includes four tennis courts, a pavilion, grill area, a playground for younger children, restroom facilities, and parking lot. The park also boasts an amphitheater used for summer concerts and has recently added a handicap accessible fishing pier.
